Rich purchased a Medellin apartment in October 2007 and then moved there full time in November 2007. He also maintains a home in Naples, FL. His background comes from the real estate, mortgage, securities, publishing, Internet and investment banking industries. His undergraduate degree is in Chemical Engineering Management from the University of Texas and he holds an MBA from the Ohio State University. He has lived in Florida for 14 years, Atlanta, GA for 11 years, Los Angeles for 8 years and is originally from Texas where he resided for 12 years.

Rich began traveling to Medellin Colombia in 2006 and quickly realized that Medellin may be one of the world’s best kept secrets primarily due to the misperceptions caused by the international press. Not only is Medellin one of the best places to live in the world but Rich believes it may also be one of the most undervalued real estate markets. And prices should rise as the world discovers what a true paradise Medellin really is. He notes that in 2007 there has been more positive U.S. news regarding Colombia than in the previous 40 years combined.

John lived for 14 years in the US before returning to Colombia. In Medellin he attended Maria Cano University majoring in international business. He is bi lingual and a very important part of the First American Realty team. As a paisa he provides invaluable assistance in local laws and customs. John also has been instrumental in forging valuable relationships with local realtors, developers and important business contacts.
Another area that John helps immensely is in property management and in obtaining local rental listings. Camilo brings some great skill sets to First American Realty Medellin. He is a Paisa but lived in Florida in early 2000 and received his Florida real estate license and worked in the Orlando area for several years before returning to his home in Medellin. He is trilingual (Spanish, English and French) and has a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from EAFIT University in Medellin and an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Florida Metropolitan University.

Having grown up and lived in Medellin, Camilo knows the real estate market here and has been invaluable in finding new listings and networking with the local business community. He has a great personality and when he is driving you around and showing you properties you should ask him to do his “Tony Montana imitation” of Al Pacino in Scarface. Norman is another example of a “paisa” returning to his beautiful city, Medellin. He is American but was born to Colombian parents in Weehawken NJ. He attended high school in that area and graduated from William Patterson Univ. in 1997 with a BA in Communications. He was an English teacher just out of college until 2004 when he became a successful REMAX realtor in North Bergen NJ. He is a Knicks and Giants fan in the U.S. and roots for DIM in Medellin.

However in 2006 Norman became aware of the many positive changes occurring in his native country, Colombia, and especially Medellin. These are his own words, “Due to my family always instilling in me a great sense of the Paisa culture, I began traveling here frequently. What I have recently seen is amazing. There is a true renaissance in this gorgeous city that America is only beginning to take notice of.
